Outdoor Rink Maintenance - City of Ottawa

I volunteered to help maintain the outdoor rink by my apartment during the winter of 2019. This involved snow removal, ice resurfacing, and tending to the related equipment. I also helped teach some of the younger kids in the area some basic skating and hockey skills.

Frosh lEADER

At the start of my second year at Carleton I participated in Sprosh (Sprott school of business' version of Frosh) as a leader. I was part of a team of like-minded plus-year students who wanted to give back to the school by helping new students transition into their post-secondary experience. We had a group of incoming students that became a part of our small family for the week. Our job as leaders was to familiarize them with the campus and city as well as provide guidance and facilitate a good time in their first week at Carleton. It was a great experience to be a part of; I truly enjoyed getting to know some of the new students and being able to provide advice and guidance in adjusting to the post-secondary experience. Unsurprisingly our team won Team of the Year honours for being the most spirited and winning various challenges throughout the week.

Sbss Sports Committee

During my first year at Carleton I , applied to and, was selected to sit on the Sprott Business Student Society's Sports Committee. We were a 4-person committee of Sprott students who planned and executed a number of different sports related events for Carleton students. This included a Sens game where we arranged a bus to and from the game as well as sold tickets and handled accompanying responsibilities. My main idea for the year was to start an outdoor hockey tournament for Sprott students; which we did. This has now evolved into an annual ODR hockey tournament at Brewer Park that raises money for charity. I can't take credit for its continued success but I am proud that the original tournament was an idea that I brought to the table.

High school: Various

During my 4 years of high school I accumulated hundreds of volunteer hours. From helping run hockey camps, to aiding in after-school child-care services at my church, to being a Link Crew Leader and subsequently Commissioner at my school I had many responsibilities. The main theme of all of my volunteer work was always oriented around leadership. I was in a position to be looked up to and took great pride in leading by example and helping out in my community.
